We drove a little over 500 miles today and made it to DeForest, Wisconsin. We would have made it much further, but near Chicago, it took us over an hour to go about 10 miles. It was frustrating since they had 3 lanes of traffic narrowed down to one lane with orange barrels. It went on and on for many miles, but not one construction worker was visible.
We are staying at a KOA campground tonight and went out to eat at a local family restaurant. Since we are in Wisconsin, I had to get some fried cheese curds.
I've been paying about $2.99 per gallon for diesel fuel, but Wisconsin prices are much lower. Just filled up at $2.71 per gallon. Tomorrow we head northwest through Wisconsin, Minnesota and hopefully we make it to North Dakota.
Safe travels!!!
