We left Vanderhoff this morning and headed east. We soon encountered Prince George which is known as the "Northern Capital of British Columbia". It was a fairly large city with lots of areas for shopping. We then turned on highway 97 south. As we traveled we saw many rivers, lakes, pines and farms. The thrill of seeing glaciers is past, but there were many signs to be aware of moose, caribou and deer.
We are spending the night at a campground in Lac La Hache. We are right on a large recreational lake. The name translates to "The Lake of the Axe" and was named when a trapper lost his only hatchet axe when chopping a hole in the frozen lake.

Our campsite. It isn't the greatest, but there is only one camper between us and the lake. It also has electric, water, and sewer all at the site. That is rare for us on this trip. |
